HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE ELL WEBPAGE!
About Mrs. Congoran
My name is Melissa Congoran and I am the ELL Specialist here at Troy Hofer. This is my 22nd year with the Troy School District. I spent twelve years as a first grade teacher and am in my tenth year as a Hofer ELL Specialist. I am excited to be an integral part of the Hofer team and am eager to build positive relationships with the ELL students and families of Hofer.
As a life-long learner, I have completed many courses, workshops and professional development activities during my teaching years. My career in education began when I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis in 2002. After a few years teaching, I returned to St. Francis to pursue my Master's Degree in Reading Instruction with a Reading Specialist endorsement, which I completed in 2006. From 2006-2013, I participated in various courses, workshops and development opportunities to further my knowledge and remain current with best teaching practices. Most recently, I returned to college coursework to obtain my ELL endorsement from Lewis University which allows me to serve the needs of Hofer's English Language Learners.
During my time away from school, I enjoy creating memories with my family. My husband Matt and I have two children. Emma is seventeen years old and currently a senior in high school. Luke is thirteen years old and in eighth grade. We enjoy outdoor activities, sports and vacationing. Most of our family time is spent at the softball field with Emma or the hockey rink with Luke!
